Pending Sale – Large Blue Swirl Cup

This cup makes me think of fine layers of beautiful sandstone laid down over millions of years.  Notice the thin lines of sand colored clay intermingled with deep blue sediment from some long ago river bed.  Yes!  It is thrown on a potter’s wheel by my hands, but the appearance is of ancient stone.  The heat of the kiln gave it a slightly out of round shape.

This large 50oz cup may require 2 hands to hold.  Maybe it could hold a generous serving of hot tomato soup on a cool Autumn afternoon?
